On-Page SEO vs. Off-Page SEO

SEO what?!

If you are trying to wrap your mind around the types of SEO out there- We have created this post to help understand the differences between on-page SEO & off-page SEO and how they both work together in ranking higher on google search.

First, let's start with the basics. SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the process of improving your site to increase its visibility when people search for products or services related to your business. There are many factors that effect SEO and how to rank high in search results.

ON-PAGE SEO is just how it sounds- All content on the page itself and within the backend of your site. On-page SEO includes areas such as: keyword analysis, title tags, meta descriptions, heading tags, and alt codes to all images. This may all sound foreign to you so I have broken up the areas for you!

Keyword Analysis- This is getting into your target markets head. Thinking what your potential client would be searching on the web to find your product/service. There are many keywords out there in which are very competitive. We strive to find keywords with less competition but with quick traffic.

Title Tags/Meta Descriptions- This is what you see when you type something into google and the search opens up. The Title Tag is always going to be in Blue and underlined. This is where you can incorporate keywords, business names and locations. For the descriptions, you want to incorporate as many keywords as possible as well as a call to action. There are a certain amount of characters for both fields which you must reach and not go over.

Heading Tags- Are all the headings within each page of your site. This helps guide google through your site. Telling google that one heading is the main header and the other is a sub header is very helpful. This creates a seamless process when indexing your site for results.

Alt Codes- This is for all the symbols/images on the website. Pretty much, telling google what the symbol or photo is. This is helpful if a customer has an visual impairments or if the image is not loading, the alt text will read what it is. There is also a possibility the images will appear on google images as well.

Logo- Use business logo to upload to the websites social share image & favicon image.

Local Search- Upload the business location for optimizing a website to be found in local search results.

Google Search Console- Manually upload the websites sitemap directly onto Google Search Console. Get updates on site performance and any errors that may arise. When making updates/additions to your site, it is always best practice to upload the sitemap for indexing of new information by Google.

OFF-PAGE SEO refers to actions taken place outside of the website to drive awareness to your site. This includes social media and Blogging.

Social Media is a very important factor in off-page SEO these days as social media is in almost everyone's lives. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are the top leading social media platforms in which drive tons of traffic to sites daily. This is something that does not happen over night. It actually involves a lot of consistency, engagement and unique content to succeed. Create a profile on your social media and link your website to your profile. This ensures when someone see a post or story of yours, they will click your profile which will show the link to your domain. Clicks back to your site are called "bacllinks." Backlinks in SEO are GOLD! You want to post/share content that people want to share with their own followers to create free advertising.

Blogging can be a great way to get your name and site out there. Whether you have your own blog or you want to guest blog for another blogger. Get out there and engage with the community relevant to your business. Creating guest blogs can also be a great way to create free advertising as your blog would link back to your personal site (MORE BACKLINKS).
